In 1996 Auckland’s Watershed Theatre and Inside Outs creative home closed to make room for the Americas Cup.

In 2006 Inside Out were involved with the collaboration of artists to fund the build of a new project. Q theatre was going to to be a theatre built by artists, for artist.

2011 saw the launch of this dream as a theatre with two flexi-form performance spaces. This new theatre to house the young up and coming theatre companies and nurture creativity in Auckland. Inside Out collaborated with a plethora of artists to show the audience how far the building had come and how much possibility lay before them.

First performed in the Old Iron Foundry in the Auckland Harbour Board building, “The Holy Sinner” was subsequently commissioned to be restaged for the New Zealand Festival of the Arts in 1994. It was an adaptation of a Thomas Mann’s story of love, sin, retribution and penance, and on both occasions sold out after opening night. At the 2004 International Festival in Wellington, Inside Out took this wildly physical production and staged it in the more controlled environment of The St. James Theatre. Starring in the lead roles were Hollywood star Cliff Curtis and leading light Mia Blake. The production caused a great deal of controversy and sold out in 5 days.

“Directors Marie Adams and Mike Mizrahi’s ability to create breathtakingly stunning and visually effective images, explodes into full life….a highly innovative and exciting production which promises much for the Auckland scene”.
THE DOMINION SUNDAY TIMES

“Sinner is a triumph…it is just the most extraordinary piece of theatre seen in recent memory. This is the latest rabbit to come out of the hat of Marie Adams and Mike Mizrahi, the founders of Inside Out and the greatest treasures of this nation’s theatre.
Inside Out is the antidote to the poisonous predictability of theatre.
I’d trade every play I’ve ever seen for it.“
THE NZ HERALD

“Electrifying Sinner sets new standard. Three hours of spectacular and inspiring theatre which should set new standards in Auckland’s contemporary arts scene.“
AUCKLAND STAR

“They repeatedly conceive, execute and inspire some of the slickest, wittiest and most intelligently coherent theatre yet seen in this country. The sagging Auckland theatre scene has been fired up by the ‘Holy Sinner’. It seems that Auckland at last understands the Taonga it has in Inside Out.“
NZ LISTENER

“A theatrical event the likes of which has not been seen in Auckland for nearly 10 years.“
METRO MAGAZINE
