In 1996 Auckland’s Watershed Theatre and Inside Outs creative home closed to make room for the Americas Cup.

In 2006 Inside Out were involved with the collaboration of artists to fund the build of a new project. Q theatre was going to to be a theatre built by artists, for artist.

2011 saw the launch of this dream as a theatre with two flexi-form performance spaces. This new theatre to house the young up and coming theatre companies and nurture creativity in Auckland. Inside Out collaborated with a plethora of artists to show the audience how far the building had come and how much possibility lay before them.

Town Hall 2010

Neil Finn approached IOP and ask us to visualize the Intriguer character as part of their Auckland concert.

After discussions with the band and Michael Leunig, IOP created a mischievous character who disrupted the concert and added real danger and unpredictability to proceedings.

He caused lights to blow up the in the grid sending sparks flying. He materialized as a projected shadow having an effect on the perfectly mapped Town Hall organ.

It flapped like a curtain, and appeared to bend around his face and hands. He turned the ‘virtual’ organ pipes into pistons and ultimately caused them crashed down at the climax during the finale song “Don’t Dream it’s Over”

A wonderful evening that received rave reviews.

Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams staged a top shelf event in a flooded Fox Studio in Sydney, aimed at creating a paradigm shift in Australian perceptions of New Zealand. Appearances from Black Grace, Wearable Arts, Brooke Fraser, Hinewehi Mohi, Sam Neil, Jay La’gaia, and the Prime Minister of New Zealand — The Right Honourable Helen Clark, were set in front of a 30m projection screen which reflected images of NZ landscapes in the surrounding water. In 2005 we staged events around The Toi Maori Eternal Thread exhibition. We staged a dawn ceremony around the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the opening of the exhibition. In 2006 we staged a series of events in Valencia, Spain to promote New Zealand in our challenge for the America’s Cup.

On the strength of our fashion show work with Australian Department store giant David Jones, Trelise Cooper, one of New Zealand’s leading designers, asked us to create a fashion event for her for the Air New Zealand Fashion Show in 2006. In the gutted St. James Theatre in Auckland, Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams created an event where the audience were both seated on the stage and in the auditorium. The performance took place in and around them, with highly theatrical vignettes breaking up each section.

First performed in the Old Iron Foundry in the Auckland Harbour Board building, “The Holy Sinner” was subsequently commissioned to be restaged for the New Zealand Festival of the Arts in 1994. It was an adaptation of a Thomas Mann’s story of love, sin, retribution and penance, and on both occasions sold out after opening night. At the 2004 International Festival in Wellington, Inside Out took this wildly physical production and staged it in the more controlled environment of The St. James Theatre. Starring in the lead roles were Hollywood star Cliff Curtis and leading light Mia Blake. The production caused a great deal of controversy and sold out in 5 days.

“Directors Marie Adams and Mike Mizrahi’s ability to create breathtakingly stunning and visually effective images, explodes into full life….a highly innovative and exciting production which promises much for the Auckland scene”.
THE DOMINION SUNDAY TIMES

“Sinner is a triumph…it is just the most extraordinary piece of theatre seen in recent memory. This is the latest rabbit to come out of the hat of Marie Adams and Mike Mizrahi, the founders of Inside Out and the greatest treasures of this nation’s theatre.
Inside Out is the antidote to the poisonous predictability of theatre.
I’d trade every play I’ve ever seen for it.“
THE NZ HERALD

“Electrifying Sinner sets new standard. Three hours of spectacular and inspiring theatre which should set new standards in Auckland’s contemporary arts scene.“
AUCKLAND STAR

“They repeatedly conceive, execute and inspire some of the slickest, wittiest and most intelligently coherent theatre yet seen in this country. The sagging Auckland theatre scene has been fired up by the ‘Holy Sinner’. It seems that Auckland at last understands the Taonga it has in Inside Out.“
NZ LISTENER

“A theatrical event the likes of which has not been seen in Auckland for nearly 10 years.“

One of the world’s most elegant social gatherings, the Louis Vuitton Cup Party is spectacular, sophisticated and exclusive. This 1999 production marked Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams’ second event for The Louis Vuitton Cup and the challenge was to outdo the first event, staged three years earlier, which was a phenomenal success. Set in a flooded dry dock within an Auckland naval base, the concept was based on man’s relationship with mythology and the sea. With the guests surrounding the dock, the water became the focal point with the story unfolding above, on and even emerging from below the surface. Starring some of New Zealand’s best known performers — The production was a symphony of sound, light and water and was another spectacular success for Louis Vuitton. A documentary was made on the creation of this event and broadcast on national television.

The launch of BMW’s 7 Series was an event that carried the weight of expectation surrounding the latest Ultimate Driving Machine. Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams were approached to create a launch that would be memorable, successful and welcoming. Guests were seated around a dinner table and enjoyed presentations by BMW’s head designer Chris Bangle. Then on cue highly sophisticated engineering propelled the whole room to suddenly float along a purpose built canal and deliver the guests to a displayed 7 Series BMW vehicle; allowing them the opportunity to closely inspect the car while still enjoying the conviviality of their dinner companions. Over the 6 week launch period the hundreds of guests who attended all experienced an intimate experience that captured the essence of the BMW 7 Series.

Former US President William Jefferson Clinton was the guest of honour at this BMW Gala Dinner in 2002. A charismatic and popular President, since leaving office Bill Clinton has talked to dinner guests around the world. Clinton’s arrival in Auckland created a sensation with New Zealand’s most successful and famous people clamouring for a seat. The unique nature of this event meant that the venue had to be specially created. Inside Out Productions constructed a lavish room on Auckland’s waterfront. Using subtle, elegant lighting, superb dressings and 750 sqm of star cloth the company created an intimate atmosphere for the 750 celebrity guests. At the end of the room two 7-series BMWs rotated slowly in mid-air surrounded by stars. It was a truly memorable evening and a major marketing achievement for BMW.

To ensure she starred in the middle of the fashion world’s most flamboyant displays, Collette commissioned Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams. With a dramatic setting in an old theatre near Montmartre, a character-filled quarter of Paris, Collette’s show was more than a match for its surroundings. Inside Out Productions’ expertise in visual theatre created a stunning environment that helped make Collette’s designs unforgettable.

In 1999 Louis Vuitton approached Inside Out and asked them to create a 20min spectacular to be staged on the main stage of the newly restored Civic Theatre. It needed to be a show that could have only come from New Zealand; it needed to wow the 2500 international and New Zealand VIP guests and include the Captains of the boats and the world famous violinist Laurent Korcia. The company wrote a kiwi extravaganza inspired by the concept of harnessing the power of wind, and utilizing the Civic’s some 70 fly lines, in what became the unofficial opening of the venue. This was to become the beginning of a long lasting relationship with Louis Vuitton. They staged the next Cup Party when LV returned in 2003 and then the Louis Vuitton 150th celebrations in NY, HK and Tokyo.
